Feel the heart-pounding, stirring rhythms of traditional Korean music! Innovation at its best: the unconventional fusion of Korean traditional music with pop and rock. Fanta-Stick (previously Korea Rhapsody) is a dynamic live show of Korean traditional musical that incorporates western percussion with melodies played on oriental musical instruments. All kinds of Korean performances and sounds including B-boy (breakdancing), percussion and string music make this a truly a fantastic visual performance.

The Fanta-Stick troupe is comprised of the best teams performing: percussion, fusion, Korean national music, breakdancing, acrobatics, and martial arts. Each team has had a long history of training together and consequently has achieved perfect coordination and cooperation as a unit. Take a visit to the 63 Art Hall in Yeoui-do at 8:00 to experience the feeling of a performance like no other. (Please note that there are no performances on Monday.)

Programs

‘Romeo and Juliet,’ perhaps the most famous love story in the world, has been remade into a completely new, comic story of conflict between the ‘Dudeurim’ (Percussion) family and the ‘Hyeonak’ (String) family. Despite a series of twists and turns, love overcomes everything in this ‘Yahansodong’ (‘enjoying and laughing together at night’) performance.

Synopsis

The sisters in the Hyeonak family wander through Hades as cursed ghosts as a punishment for breaking the sacred Jamyeonggo (type of drum), a gift from the gods. The only way that they clear their sin and go to heaven is to create music that can move the gods of earth and heaven. However, the sister feel more and more discouraged as their music fails to get even 50 points out of the 100 required for their entry to heaven. One day, a man comes to the haunted house of the Hyeonak family. The man, who is actually Semachi from the Dudeurim family, captivates the ghost sisters with his drum performance, but then simply seems to vanish. The sisters became convinced that his drumming is exactly what they need to get the full 100 points from the gods and be freed from their curse. So they forced Wu, the youngest of the family, to work in the garage run by Semachi’s family. Even though Wu only goes to get away from her sisters’ nagging, she begins to realize that she might have feelings for Semachi, feelings completely unrelated to her sisters’ plot. Does Wu’s love bear fruit? And can the Hyeonak sisters clear the curse? The performance’s intriguing plotline combines the traditional ‘Jamyeonggo’ tale of Korea with the timeless tale of Romeo and Juliet into one amazing performance.
